The climate is in crisis. Mega fires have raged across NSW and QLD. Many towns are facing drought and water shortages. For decades, politicians have denied the approaching climate emergency. Even now they continue to facilitate the expansion of coal, oil and gas projects, including the Adani coal mine in QLD and the Burrup hub project in WA.
Rather than accepting this, tens of thousands have skipped school, protested and rebelled for action on climate change. The response from politicians have been repression and the introduction of new anti-protest laws.
Join uni students across the country to resist this by striking from university on March 13 to demand action on climate change.
In Perth, we’ll be meeting at Elizabeth Quay, then marching to the Perth Exhibition and Convention Centre to protest AOG, an oil and gas industry conference which features major fossil fuel corporations. The oil and gas industry in WA is responsible for a huge increase in emissions in Australia. At industry conferences like AOG, these companies network, plan future emitting projects and lobby government. We will be disrupting their business as usual and call for no new oil, gas or coal, stop the Burrup Hub & 100% renewables by 2025.
