No more excuses: Climate action now!
Massive funding increase for bushfire relief!
As bushfires continue to burn across Australia, the Morrison Govt, under pressure from massive public anger and protest, is being forced to pretend to care about climate change and bushfire victims.
But this is a farce. The government’s promise of a measly $2bn in bushfire relief and reconstruction pales in comparison to the $29bn in subsidies paid to the fossil fuel industry, or the profits of the coal and gas companies each year. Thousands of people from devasted towns have been abandoned.
Their climate change policies remain as destructive as ever, as the fossil fuel industry continues to expand, the Adani coal mine continues construction and fracking expands throughout northern Australia. The Paris targets are a sham, set far too low to save the planet from climate chaos and full of loopholes which allow governments to do whatever they want while pretending they are taking action.
The ALP are no no better, pledging their total support for the coal corporations.
Even these unprecedented fires have not moved our political establishment into action, so beholden are they to the climate criminals of the fossil fuel industry.
We need to continue to build a massive climate movement which will not allow these lies and excuses and half measures to stand.
