Snap Action Against Equinor (Adelaide)

Equinor’s dangerous plans to drill in the Great Australian Bight won’t just damage a pristine environment; they also put young people’s futures at risk by fuelling the climate crisis.

Equinor claim to support climate action, yet they want oil to became SA’s second largest export. With oil from the Bight producing up to 8x Australia’s annual carbon emissions, this would be disastrous for SA’s future.

Young people have so much to lose if this project goes ahead, yet Equinor have refused to meet with us, claiming that young people have no stake in the project.

We know this isn’t true. So, in the week that Equinor are due to resubmit their environment plan and while Equinor’s top PR person is in Adelaide trying to win over the state government and local industries, we will be saying NO WAY Equinor this Friday morning at 9am in Glenelg with a snap action and press conference.

Please wear black, and bring along any placards you have!

The Australian Youth Climate Coalition acknowledges this event will take place on stolen Kaurna land whose sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging, the Kaurna and Mirning communities who’s country is at risk from drilling and acknowledge the leadership of the Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network in the fight for climate justice.
