At the council meeting at 6:30 pm on Tuesday 27 August, Maribyrnong Council will vote on whether or not to give the western lawn of Footscray Park over to Melbourne Victory on a 21-year lease.
There is a solution that suits the whole community. Our community are urging Council to vote no to putting the proposal in our heritage-listed and much-loved park, and to instead work with residents to find another more suitable location.
Please join us to tell Council that we care, and to make them know that if they vote yes we will take every option available to us to defeat this, including at the heritage and planning stages and especially at the 2020 elections.
Please note that council will not likely fit us all in for the meeting, but we are calling on our community to come down to protest out the front to show them that we care. We then want as many people as possible to witness the vote.
