In a rapidly changing climate, Port Phillip is facing rising seas head on. And as the seas rise, so do we. XR Port Phillip invites everyone, from all walks of life, to join us in a march, sing, dance and swim-in. We need #EverybodyNow to stand with us for a safe future.
We encourage people to dress as though the St Kilda streets were underwater. Bring goggles, bathers, flippers, wetsuits, snorkels, swimming caps and everything water related. In the event of wet weather, wear your rain gear for added effect. This is a light-hearted and witty action so get creative!
We will meet at Catani Gardens in St Kilda at midday to practice our song and dance. Then we will march to another location for our die-in. Our debrief and regenerative picnic will take place in St Kilda’s beautiful Botanical Gardens. This action is inclusive and family-friendly.
OUR THREE DEMANDS
1. Tell the Truth: Government tell the truth about the climate and ecological crisis we are facing and declare a climate emergency.
2. Act Now: Government immediately adopt a radical emissions reduction target, one that will transition Victoria to a net-zero emissions economy by 2025, in line with a global red-line of 1.5°C of global heating.
3. Beyond Politics: Government must create and be led by decisions of a Citizens’ Assembly on climate and ecological justice.

This event takes place on the stolen land of the Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. Port Phillip lies on and beside the beautiful, unceded, lands and waters of the Yalukit Willam clan. We pay our deepest respect to their Elders: past, present and emerging.
We know acknowledgement is limited without corresponding action. It is our intention that our work for environmental and multi-species justice, and how to continually address the question of how we can meaningfully respond to, and participate in dismantling, ongoing colonial violence in Australia.
