The Peoples Climate Assembly will hold a rally on the lawns of Parliament House on 2 February 2021, the first sitting day of the year, to highlight the Australian Government’s nonsensical decision to favour gas over renewable energy to drive Australia’s post-pandemic recovery.
The rally will be addressed by a number of speakers, including former Wallaby star and social justice advocate, David Pocock; scientist Emeritus Professor Will Steffen; and Richie Merzian from the Australia Institute, as well as School Strike for Climate leader Rosie Brady and a number of politicians.
The rally is in support of a Petition to the House of Representatives calling for a #GreenRecoveryNow, not a gas led one. The Petition can be signed at https://www.aph.gov.au/petition_list?id=EN2239
Tuesday’s rally marks a year since the PCA’s last highly successful gathering on Federation Mall outside Parliament House. when over 5,000 people encircled Parliament House, demanding immediate action on climate change
