Join Rebels around the world to disrupt business as usual in our capital cities. History shows this is the most effective way to get the change we need for a safe future!
Please make sure you sign up to the official event here to help us keep you up to date with the event as it develops – things are moving fast, and signing up here will help keep us organised and together! https://actionnetwork.org/events/xrwa-spring-rebellion-flood-the-city-oct-11th?source=direct_link&
FLOOD THE CITY!
Did you know that Boorloo (aka Perth CBD area) was once fertile, flourishing wetlands, providing food and cultural sites for Whadjuk people before colonisation. Much of the foreshore area was in fact river! And now, recent analyses have shown how with sea level rise – the CBD will once again be under water! So our mass action will symbolise FLOOD THE CITY!
This event will require some walking through the city – however you can meet us along the way if that doesn’t suit you. Please sign up to the event via the link above, and also keep checking Facebook for updates of where and when.
WEAR – hat, good shoes, sunscreen.
BRING – a backpack, 2l of water, food for the day.
BE – amazing. Celebrate the life and lives we are protecting. Be cool, respect everyone on all sides – even if they don’t respect you. Be creative – how can you symbolise ‘Flood the City’?

WA’s Spring Rebellion will feature different themes of action for each day of the week.
Monday 7th Oct: Welcome to Country, Welcome to Rebellion.
Extinction Rebellion stands in solidarity with Aboriginal people and understands that environmental justice is fundamentally linked with justice for First Nations people globally.
Actions on this day will be led by Traditional Owners of Boorloo area (Perth). https://www.facebook.com/events/509217719639769/
Tuesday 8th Oct: Tell the Truth
Aim for actions that communicate the Theme – Tell The Truth. Who is NOT telling the truth? What ARE the facts and figures? Light projections of climate statistics in a public area, sing-ins or sit-ins or die-ins which highlight the state of the crisis, creative action targeting institutions which whitewash the climate crisis such as media outlets and Govt departments. https://www.facebook.com/events/400306904008362/
Wednesday 9th Oct: Act Now
The climate crisis requires immediate action, to avoid hitting major tipping points and risking irreversible climate runaway. Australia’s emissions are currently increasing – largely because of WA’s increase in LNG production. https://www.facebook.com/events/469871807202999/
Thursday 10th Oct: Beyond Politics
The current political system has proven unable to solve the climate crisis. Politicians are lobbied and influenced by corporations and polluters. Ideas for actions: reclaim city space for Public Participation – public Peoples Assemblies, communal food cooking and eating, gigs, concerts, performance pieces. Public participation en masse in the city will be disruptive, yet inclusive and demonstrate that we can create our own future – we must! https://www.facebook.com/events/503374490223702/
Friday 11th: MASS ACTION. Can 2,000 people assemble in the CBD to bring climate action to the front pages?
